Well it's the M43 jacket but the Marines were never issued the M43 at least not that I know of. It would have been too hot for them wearing the M43 in the PTO. They were issued HBT's in OD and Camo.

The USMC did issue M43 jackets before the surrender of Japan in limited numbers (preperation for October 1945's cancelled Operation Downfall). M43's were issued to USMC "China Marines" and marines that were involved as an occupational force in post war Japan.

Some Marines involved in the occupation force in post war Japan cut down their M43's non regulation style that mimicked the "ike jacket" cut.

The USMC used plenty of "dogface" gear during WW2 (M41's, HBT's, etc)

Most USMC P41's P42's and P44 greens had the USMC w/ EGA stencil on them. But certainly not all of them. USMC M43's didn't have the stencil from any pics I have seen.

The USGI 2 buckle boots were issued to USMC after Japan's surrender.

Good info Mike. My source only talks about the HBT's and does not mention the M43. So thanks.

Source: Olive-Drab.com (the following is just a sample of the info)

World War II Combat Uniforms & Clothing for the U.S. Marine Corps

In 1941, two piece sage green utility uniforms were issued to Marines for fatigue duty. These cotton herringbone twill (HBT) uniforms were designed for field work, but quickly became the battle dress uniform. By the time of the Guadalcanal invasion (August 1942) the HBT field uniform was in general use and continued, with modifications, through the war. The Service Uniform was reserved for garrison duty or leave and was not seen on the battlefield. In the photo, Marines in HBT fatigues wade ashore on Tinian, 24 July 1944.

At the same time as the HBT uniform was in use, a series of camouflage uniforms was developed and issued to Marines. Although often associated with the USMC, use of camouflage uniforms was sporadic, not universal, in World War II.

I can see why OD dot com would omit it since the M43 is not exactly a "shooting war" item.

The pics I have with USMC wearing M43s are all of China Marines.

So the ebay item could indeed be USMC. Howevern there is probably little if any difference in that jacket when compared to an ET0 M43.

Hey guys, sorry for the bump, but does anyone have somewhere to suggest to buy a M43 Jacket? ATF is quoting me 48$ for shipping only the jacket, which is BS IMO, anywhere else to suggest.

WPG them going for $40.00 right now. However, the only size left in stock is size 52.

Also there's usually 50 to 150 M43's available on ebay.

Yeah I would've like a WPG one, but I have a 38-40" chest, so that's kinda huge.

I found one on ebay now

Anyway, I got mine today (finally). Size 40r, and I have a 38 chest. Fits small, sadly.

Can someone post a picture of their collar (up)?

Can't figure how it's supposed to fold with the buttons, looks weird right now.

I'm not sure what you mean. I'll take a look at my M43 when I get home.

There is a sort of flap, under the collar, I guess for "sealing the neck" for anti-gaz.

(Not my picture)

Mine does that, but like, x2.
