The cynic in me says true altruism doesn't exist. I suspect in a few years the current exalting opinion of The Saint will be gone once the financial nature of the business enters the fray.

Or I could be wrong.

All hail our new Airsoft Czar!

I just REALLY hope the fucking clone companies get to come in soon.

That way AGM/Cyma can maybe start kicking out more WW2 weapons, or some other company with a decent price can start a ball rolling.

From what I read in Saint's post I don't think that is going to happen. He states that the RCMP do not want to deal with China suppliers because they are for most part fly-by-night.

I can understand everyone's excitement but this isn't as great as everyone thinks it is. Don't get me wrong, I think Saint did a great job but this doesn't change much for us. The term Airsoft is now legal is miss leading. It can only be legal if everyone can bring airsoft guns into Canada... and you and I can't. What Saint has done here is to make it Legal for Saint to bring in guns and then he will distribute the guns to his chosen retailers. Will this bring the price down for airsoft guns in Canada? Maybe... but I don't think it will be much. And if Saint decides that he has had enough of the airsoft business then the retailers that he supplies will be back to square one.

The only way that airsoft prices will truely come down in Canada is if you and I can buy our airsoft guns from China or the US and this will force the Canadian retailer to match their prices as close as possible. I'm all for supporting Canadian retailers if their price was a $50 difference but if there are hundreds of dollars difference then I will buy from outside of the country. And I can't do that right now even with what Saint has accomplished and that means that Airsoft isn't legal to bring into the country for everyone.

Besides the seems to apply to mostly modern guns it seems. I doubt this will help me get a Sten.

There's one for sale on ASC right now Ian, but I think Shiney has his eyes on it! Laughing

Yes I 110% agree with you Lee, but atleast we are *hopefully* starting to walk down a path where that can be accomplished in the future.

And that's a sad part, some clones I really do like especially for the WW2 aspect... Alas, all I really am hopefully for is greater good when all this is said and done.. Probably in a few years from now.

It's good news but it's not great news.

The change only affects the Canadian conusmer with a handful of AEG manufacturers that deal with one importer.

Almost all of the "classic" guns are made by other manufacturers. This change doesn't affect the growing GBBR market (yet). Nor does it change pistols or anything Chinese, Marushin or Tanaka make (MP40, MP44, M1, M2, K98, BHP, etc).

If you're in the market for a VFC SCAR or a CA AEG you'll probably save $60ish dealing with The Saint method vs. a black market retailer with an in country AEG. (I did some quick math)

I might be wrong here but there was no mention of a warranty being provided by the legal store. My understanding is that to make it legal for the AEG to be imported the gun is arrving in country "hot". The store is then redcuing the fps after the CBSA / RCMP inspection so it's game worthy out of the box.

A warranty would be nice. Even if it was for the cosmetic aspects only.

So before you purchase your legal gun via The Saint's legal method the mechbox is being opened up for a spring swap at the very least. I hope their quality control testing is high.

I read that Real Sword's will be available soon. They run hot anyway at around 430 fps out of the box with a stock M130 "regular" type spring installed from the factory (that's how both of mine arrived). I am curious to see the legal pricing of these. If it's >$725 the only change is on how it gets imported as Real Sword doesn't really have to change their production for the Canadian Market.

That being said it's still good news. Especially for someone in the market for an new opaque AEG and of course for The Saint and Mach1.

I look forward to seeing how this all plays out in the coming months and beyond.

If I have missed anything here or written a gross inaccuracy feel free to correct me.

Shift, I think you hit it on the head and it goes with what I was saying. The savings aren't all that great and again, the legal airsoft only applies to the Saint. And if you are correct about the spring... the mechbox will be opened twice unless they build them with the higher spring.

Yeah, I checked out what Mach1 had available last night.

The pricing was very "Canadian" and were actually a wee bit higher than what I have been quoted from my importer contacts. And that was before shipping and taxes.

Meh.

I can't say it affects me much.

Regardless I'll take it as good news and look forward to the months ahead.

I am curious about those dimpled bb's.

I'll see some of you on the 14th. I apologize in advance for not wearing my WW2 kit.

OK.

I was gonna wear my ECWCS Digital Desert since I am a dainty man at heart and was hoping to stay nince and warm.

You have convinced me otherwise.

I'll bring the M43 WW2 kit with the Thompson and the BAR.

That's better Trooper! You'll earn your stripes quickly. Wink

Wear your wools under the M43 and you'll stay warm. If you don't have wools then layer is the trick.

I have the M43 Jacket liner.

Hope you like a "Stay Puft" trooper.

It's more the boots. Those 2 buckles ain't exactly made of gore tex.

I'll probably bring the BAR.

It still needs upgrade #2.

Upgrade #1 got it from shooting 250 fps to 330 fps.

I'd like it to be around 395 fps. However, I'd like to get a few more mechboxes under my belt before I open up the BAR.

If not I'll still bring the Thompson and the M14.

Looking forward to seeing y'all on the 14th.
