Operation Market - Garden Pt I
The Son Bridge

On September 17–25, 1944 the largest airborne operation of all time was undertook by the Allies, delivering over 34,600 men of the US 101st/ 82nd, the British 1st Airborne Divisions and the Polish Brigade. . It made large-scale use of airborne forces whose tactical objectives were to secure a series of bridges over the main rivers of the German-occupied Netherlands and allow a rapid advance by armoured units into northern Germany. The plan required the seizure of bridges across the Maas (Meuse River) and two arms of the Rhine (the Waal and the Lower Rhine) as well as several smaller canals and tributaries. Crossing the Lower Rhine would allow the Allies to outflank the Siegfried Line and encircle the Ruhr, Germany's industrial heartland.

Initially the operation was successful and several bridges between Eindhoven and Nijmegen were captured. However the ground force's advance was delayed by the demolition of a bridge over the Wilhelmina Canal at Son, delaying the capture of the main road bridge over the Meuse. Two other bridges would become the focus later on in the battle, but for us that will be another story Mr. Green .

**This is to be the first in a series of three games based on A Bridge Too Far**

Objective

US airborne forces in conjunction with British ground forces must get to and capture the Son bridge. However, if the Germans are able to destroy the bridge the Allies must resolve the problem.

**More details are currently TS (Top Secret), but trust me sdkfz and I have come up with another good one**

Date: Start at 1600hrs 3rd Oct until 0200hrs 4thOct
Location: FR, current location (TBC)
Note: We are attempting to make this a level II, some exemptions possible.

I have been thinking of a Marget Garden op for this fall, and I'm REALLY looking forward to this!

I will have to go down as tent for now.. My grandpa from the US is flying to Buffalo NY, and I may not have to go get him, so I will confirm later.

Excited about this one BIG time! haha.
