In like an insurgent at a C4 belt festival.

I hear rumours that the tunnel (the one opposite the magazine) is inhabited by a nasty spook. Will be interesting to hang out there after dark, I really enjoyed wandering around Fort George.

Do you have any more information about parade times, etc.? The missus and the wee lad want to head down there to see the parade too.

Cheers,

Glynn.

Ive heard this also from local people that have worked there in the past Glynn.
One story I heard was that one guy was on 'Guard duty' for a tour bus in the winter and he saw footprints in the snow in a restricted area, so he followed them a bit and they just ended.

Another one I heard, it was around 1 am and some custodians were cleaning one of the restored cannons when they saw a guy walking towards their position with a lantern and a sword who then vanished approx 50 feet away.

I'm sure if you believe in these things there could be any number of disturbed souls there. Having walked around the walls you can see how brutal trying to take the Fort would be, there's just no way you can avoid being fired upon, or to be a defender suffering the shelling from across the river.

I'm a total skeptic, so the tales interest me no end.

Didn,t see any thing spooky out there last year . Doug did take a photo of us in the gun shed around the six pounder and in the photo is a sphere with a soldiers face in it ,that was at the gun shed ! Steff is putting the tracks back on his Halftrack so it will be at the show and one of the guys own a weasel and he might have it there plus some american military vehical collecters that where at the airshow are going to be coming out! I don,t know about timings yet but the parade started around 10:00 a.m. last year

Thanks for posting this Terry, been busy and unfortunately I will not be able to attend this event. I encourage all OAWWIIR members (with Allied kits)to attend. If you do not have your kit at 100% contact other members and I'm sure they can get you geared up.

Since I will not be attending I have a uniform and gear that I can loan out for the weekend if anyone is interested, just send me a PM... first come first one gets the kit. This would be great for any of you German lads that would like to attend but do not have the Allied gear.

Please note, I know life gets in the way some times but please do not sign up unless you will be able to make it to this event.

Who knows maybe the lad will come early and I will be able to make it out after all... hey, I can dream can't I! Wink

There are two issues that I have to deal with... one, to convince her to have the baby early and then two, to have her agree that it's not too soon after the birth of our son for me to take off for a weekend.

I think I can convince her on the first one but I'm shit out of luck on the second one. Crying or Very sad
