Well, as you may know from another thread we will be dropping the Airsoft out of our name. I thought that we would just go to Ontario WWII Re-enactors but others have mentioned that we should become the website/forum for all the re-enacting groups across Canada and not just Ontario. I'm not sure if that is necessary but I have created a poll and we will see what the majority pick.

So here are the names:

Ontario WWII Re-enactors
WWII Re-enactors Ontario
WWII Re-enactors Canada
Canadian WWII Re-enactors

I picked the first choice, since most events are in Ontario.

Still saddened to see 'airsoft' removed from the name, though.

Airsoft will still be part of this group... just not in the name.

It's looking 50/50 on if we should be Canada wide or just Ontario.

If we change to Canada, Our events will still be happen here in Ontario. But it would be set up more like ASC.

A more central place for people to come and share there interest and knowledge. We can gain people from Alberta Airsoft as well as people from Quebec and out East. All the extras that we have found http://ontarioairsoftwwiireenactors.com/forum/index.php?c=4 could be even bigger.

just my .05 cents

Because that would open it up to all re-enactors... from Roman to current. And that's not what this group is about.

We had a conversation about this on the weekend.

some people were concerned that such a move may bee seen as an encroachment on long established other Reenactor groups.

But I don't see it.. This is a website.. this site is not the community. The individual units be they "airsoft" or Blank Firing" focused are where the real business of "reenacting" goes on. Some will do that business better than others some are long established some are new on the scene, all are on the same path.

This site can serve the greater community of reenactors in general and become a clearing house of information for all .. Neutral ground" so to speak

That's how I see this developing

See I don't understand that line of thinking... we are a long established reenactor group ourselves. We've been around for eight years. We started doing airsoft but grew to be much more then that. So it's only logical that our name is changed to reflect that.

We were not part of a group that split off and said hey we can do this better. We are not a new group saying Hey don't join any other group.

We are a group that is more then willing to work with and join in other group's events. We can only add numbers to their events... not take away. It's even possible that we will also help them find new recruits for their units.

I'm not sure what the fear is and why people think that changing our name is going to enfringe on other groups. Are we okay as long as we stay "Airsoft"?

Not trying to re-invent the wheel here folks. I've already stated that I am more then happen to Remove our small roster for FSSF and link that to John's and Graham's FSSFLHG group. I know Scott (if he hasn't already) and I are think of joining FSSFLHG. And if others find FSSFLHG through our web site and join... isn't that better for FSSFLHG? The same thing could be for any other unit/group out there.

So how is that not a good thing?

People are always affraid of change, it's human nature...

If one said man would fly or travel to the moon they would have been burnt as a heretic yet it is very much part of our lives now.

I'm not saying we're changing anything, but it's perception and for them the sky is falling.

Lee I agree with you..

From my perception, this is a logical step in the development of the community at large.

by labeling a website x y or z does not imply that EVERY member of that forum is X Y or Z

everyone wants the reenactment community at large to grow.. it grows by making itself known.. the more ways and means to connect with people who are like minded the better, for everyone.

May I also add... This site fares quite well in google searches for reenactment now.. it outperforms all other reenactment sites it does better when one searches for wwIi reenactment ontario than it does tagging Canada .. .. Obviously that would change should the name change.

but my point is.. if you search for reenactment wwii this site does well now
