I have owned a M42 Jump Jacket since 2008. Only today did I notice that the stitching on the top of the chest pockets does not go all the way across. This makes for a small "pocket behind the pocket" on each chest pocket.

Anyone know what was generally stored in there?

Your mess spoon! Laughing Actually you can hook granades or your flash light. I hook my flashlight on mine at night... it leaves my hands free.
