The Russell Aviation Group Airshow 2008 - Friendly Foes above the Falls
The Russell Group Airshow Web site
This will be a Level 1 Living History event - All uniforms and gear have to be 95 - 100%. Only period weapons to be used.
We need both Germans and Allies for this event. We need to setup a display - their theme is D-Day +7. We can setup period tents, dig fox holes, etc. So let's use our our resources and come up with two great displays. I plan on going the Friday to start setting up, we have to be ready to go and setup by 10:00 Saturday morning. If you plan on coming on Saturday please be early to help setup.
We need a good turn out for this. There will be other re-enactor groups there. Pictures will be taken with period vechicles and planes.
Again, please do not sign up unless you are going to be there... hopefully for the full Saturday and Sunday. Let's have a good turn out and we may be invited to other events and back to this one next year.
I need to let them know how many people we will have and how much room we will need for the display(s) so please sign up ASAP. Once we have a group I will setup a meeting for us to discuss the displays.
We will be able to camp out at the airfield with the rest of the re-enactors for free and lunch will be free as well. Breakfast and dinner are only $5 each.

The following is an email from Doug Reece with info and directions:
Lee:
Great to have you on board. Location--www.russell group aviation. The page takes a couple minutes to load. The airfield is directly off the QEW on the far side of Niagara Falls. You only have to make one turn and that is on to Sodom Road. You can see the air field from the highway. Set up day and fly-in is on friday. I will be there actually on thursday night, we have so much stuff to bring out. We are staying in the tents on friday/saturday night. You are all quite welcome to stay. Or if it is more convenient when the sun comes out saturday morning you can set up.
The show starts at noon saturday, people start filing in at 10:00. You have to be setup by 10:00.
Breakfast (bacon & eggs)will be served on saturday and sunday morning for $5.00. Lunch is free, Dinner will be chicken barbecue and we just have to pay for the cost of the chicken.
You can bring all of your air soft weapons minus the batteries. We are shopping for 4 - 50 cals & 2 - 30 cals right now. We are also researching bringing them back across the border.
No live weapons, If you have military tents, great, bring them and spend the weekend. Setup as though you were back in 1944 europe. You can dig trenches, setup sand bags, install imitation barbed wire, etc. Bring your own snacks, beer, soft drinks, etc. (for after the show on friday and saturday night) bottled water will be supplied. Hydro is available, water is available, Ed Russell has verified that your german group can have their pictures taken next to the Messerschmidt. We will probably do that on saturday directly after the show. There is also a B-17 that will be there (Memphis Belle) if your american group wants their picture taken.
The only thing I need is, approximately how much space do you need and how many will be attending.
Otherwise, keep in touch.

Lee this event is getting my interest a LOT.
I just went to the German re-enactor website located in Canada, they are apparently coming too (Kampfgruppe Haase)
Very interesting! _________________

That's just it... this is a good way for us to meet other re-enactors. It's also a good way to show Blank firing re-enactors that we Airsoft re-enactors as just as serious about being true to the period.
Here is a very good chance to expand our group and make connections. So come on you guys... sign up. I think it could be a great weekend. _________________ 1Lt. Lee Cassar (Re-enactor)

Not too far from my place, I should be able to make it out on friday for a bit, and then on Saturday afternoon if im working (after 1 PM hopefully).
If im not working I can be there for the morning.
Perhaps a new thread should be made detailing what gear/props would be beneficial.
Also there are a few malls nearby for those with 'significant others'
Fun for the whole family! _________________ Pfc. Sam Cino (Re-enactor)

What about Sunday?
Let's keep everything here... it will get too confusing if we have another thread. Anyway, post if you will be coming and which unit and any gear props that you will be bringing. I will setup a meeting in the near future to discuss displays.
For example:
I will be attending for the entire weekend. Easy Company 101st Airborne.
Period Uniform, gear and weapons (including the .30 Cal.)
Field gear - Burlap sand bags, Fake Barbed wire, crates, period two man tent, stove, blanket, EE8 field phones, K-Rats and a few other things. _________________ 1Lt. Lee Cassar (Re-enactor)

Okay Fellas... I know that there is a lot of time until this event but it would be nice to get a confirmed attending for this event so I can let them know how many members will be coming and how large a space that we will need.
So come on and sign up. _________________ 1Lt. Lee Cassar (Re-enactor)
