Now i've heard that most units did not sew rank insignia on their HBT uniforms ? So would it be OK to just to sew Sgt. stripes my on M41 jacket and have the NCO helmet stripe? Or im i mistaken and they did have rank on their HBT's ?

I would just add the rank onto the M41.

Remember for early parts of the war they would have been wearing wool shirt and pants.

Ranks and unit insignias would be on wool uniforms as they are part of the A and B class uniforms

Ya that is what i was thinking... i know the 1st ID had mustard wool in N.Africa and then "light" shade hbt's in Sicily, then back to wool for d-day invasion... but most switched to a mix of wool and hbt or full hbt "dark shade" with the m41 after a couple of weeks. Especially since they were coverd with that CC-2 anti-gas paste witch was greasy and stunk... so i dont think they would have sewn on rank in a combat zone. I do have the patch on both though but yes i will just leave rank on m41.. thanks buddy!

P.s You going to Long Branch ? and do i finally get a ride in the Jeep Very Happy

Rank was worn on the HBT's.

Are you doing a D-Day impression or D-Day plus 10 or more? The Big Red 1 wore wools on D-Day and then later replaced their wools for HBT's.
